Slack -  Internal Communication

For whom?

Primarily the city coordinator and everyone with a special function (publicity, website and sponsorship), but all event managers are welcome to join. This is internal communication platform is used to disseminate info's to everyone quickly and you have an easy way to get in touch with us!

We recommend that each city sets up a separate Slack channel, but that is not mandatory. It’s a free tool that you can use online or download to your computer/phone/use in browser and is a mixture of WhatsApp/email/docs. It eliminates the need to email each other and is easier to track communication and make general announcements.

Who is in charge?

The core team has administration rights for SLACK and can add members easily, just send us an email (germany@pintofscience.com)!

Slack tips

1. Please use just your first name as your username. Usernames are specific for each Slack board, so it is likely that a name like 'John' is available. If your first name is unavailable then use first name and second name like this: John-Smith.

You can change your username and associated email at anytime - you do not need a new invite.

2. Please fill in the "what I do" section of your profile with your Pint of Science role and city/uni. We have a lot of people on Slack, it will be nice to know who everyone is and can make it easier to start conversations and help each other.

3. Sometimes it's useful to use THREADS to reply to messages, hover over top right of message and click the speech bubble to start a thread. Everyone in channel can follow the thread.

4. Set your notifications at the level you want so that the balance is right for you, we ask you to check slack at least once a week!
